I just noticed today that my jp8000 throws up a quick "BATTERY LOW" message on the lcd screen. Have any other Jp8000 owners here seen this? Is this something I can replace or do I need to find a repair shop? I hope its just a simple flat battery like the ones you put on a computer mainboard. I think those are cr2032 if i remember right.

A quick search in google revealed this: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/sho ... ery-change Seems like a pretty straight forward fix. Back up your patches immediately and before replacement. I use the C6 program for my sysex dumps for all of my gear. It's not just for elektron gear. You can get that here: http://www.elektron.se/support-and-downloads It's at the bottom of the list. Good luck and let us know when it's fixed and how it went.

Thanks for sharing that link. The procedure to replace the battery went well - there are a lot of screws on the bottom of the JP8000! Thankfully, they are all the same so i didn't have to draw a picture/map of where they all go. Roland used a little spring mounted clip for the battery, so it was very easy to replace. The person over at the Harmony Central forums was right on - once you've got the bottom panel removed, look for the metal shield covered pc board and remove about 8 screws. You won't have to disconnect the two gray terminal cables with black connectors - with the 8 screws off, I was able to shift the metal cover just enough to see and access the battery.
When I fired it back up, I get a MEMORY DAMAGED error so I googled that. There is a great JP8000 thread over on RolandClan.com on the Factory Reset procedure (to address the memory damaged error) as well as getting the pitch bend, modulation, and ribbon controllers reset and reinitialized:

After I ran through these steps, my JP8K fires up flawlessly. Glad I was able to repair this myself - i spent a sum total of $3.50 on 2 replacement Engergizer CR2032 batteries. That and about 30-40 minutes of my time.
