Help with VST synth preset- Sledgehammer

Post by progmr » Fri Jan 21, 2011 5:15 pm

Good morning:

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction as to the sounds used for Garbrial's Sledgehammer besides the flute. I purchased Dimension Pro w/Digital Sound Factory Mo'Phatt, Planet Earth, Proteus (I think this is what he used), etc. There are 2 key elements, one is defiantly a keyboard the other is a brass section. I am hoping someone knows what presets these are and save me the time hunting through the libraries. I may use my windsynth (w/XV-5050) for the brass unless something better exists in Dimension.

In case you don't remember the tune:

Thanks a lot!

It's real brass, so you'll need really good samples to get it as good as that, and good arranging skills. Lots of Hammond B3 on this track. There is a good bit of synth too, but it's mainly the Hammond and the brass. If you can play stick bass like Tony Levin and drums like Manu Katché, then you're set. ;)

Thanks, that is a great start. Being newbie keyboard player makes it difficult to discern what sound belongs what particular model.

There's also a Yamaha CP70 piano, probably through a chorus like a CE2, played at a low level throughout the track. Synth is probably good ole Prophet 5. The shakuhachi sample is supposedly the same Emulator II sound that turned up on a zillion tracks at the time ie Tangerine Dream's Legend soundtrack.
Keys: Realistic Concertmate 500, Korg K25, Korg Micro X

Guits: '86 Fender Japan '50s Reissue Strat, '80 Aria Pro II TS-300 Thor Sound
