New SEM patchpanel filter selector pot issue..

Post by volumetrik » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:37 pm

Hey

Haven't used this synth in a while, but yesterday when I tried to a filter sweep form LP to HP it just doesn't work, it stays in LP as you turn it then when you get to HP theres like a loud sound similar to Notch and then if you go past HP it goes back to LP?

Cheers

Can't help but think there is some user error here? When the knob is in the middle it IS a notch filter (low + high), and when fully clockwise it should only be high and should sound very distinct from Lowpass when you sweep the filter freq. knob. The BP filter switch isn't on is it?
Do you even post on vse bro?

Thanks for reply

When you get to middle its still in LP then when you get to around HP theres loud noise going and then as you get fully to HP it goes to LP...weird

I make sured BP wasn't on

What should I do? I don't really want to take it to a tech cos it will be like $250 minimum...so I'm thinking of putting it on eBay, how much should I put it up for as is?

Thanks

I would post a sample up here first which may help give a better idea of what's going on.

Do you want to keep it, or just sell it?

If you're serious about fixing it, I would just send it to TO - can't imagine it being more than whatever you're local preson charges.

Did you get it from Awave? If so just take it back and they'll sort you out. If you're gonna put it on ebay you'd have to be upfront about it having a problem, I think about $500 would be a fair price.

Yep got it from awave...really nice shop, wonder if they are doing well? would hate to see them go, seems like the only decent shop around for synths... yeah I was going to be upfront about the issue for the ebay listing...so I might do that, I don't really want to pay for repairs or expensive postage costs if awave decide to ship it back

I reckon they're doing alright, they moved from Camberwell to South Yarra not that long ago so business can't be too bad. :D

If you do decide to let it go send me a message, I could use it with my modular so the filter not working properly would be something I could get around.
