100V Roland Juno 106 use in Canada

Post by tomsoda » Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:49 pm

Hello,

I bought a Roland Juno 106 on internet, from japan. On the back of the synth it's written "input:100V". Here in Canada, the voltage is therorically 110/120V.
I first planned to buy a down step converter but the reseller tells me that there no need for it, as the real voltage at the plug can vary from 100V to 120V.
Is there anybody that already used that type of gear in US or Canada without using any converter ?

Thanks for your help

From what I've read elsewhere, it's true you could use it as is, but it might become troublesome over time. Depending on how much you paid for it (it must be a lot with the shipping), why take a chance to damage it? How much is the converter? I wouldn't mind buying one if it's under 50$...

My Juno-106 service manual shows the power transformer to be tapped for 100, 117, 220, and 240 volts. If you have - or have a friend who has - a soldering iron and the skills to change one wire inside the synth . you're good.
