Juno 106 General Help
Hey everyone, I just got a Juno 106 and its not in tip top shape. I decided to go in and buff/clean it up a little before I even test it (It's a japan model and I'm lacking the voltage converter).
However, I've noticed numerous issues.
For one, the sliders/faders on the Left panel that's left of the keyboard feel very "grainy" when I slide them. I went in a cleaned some dried up oil or grease with a cutip, but it barely helped. Is there a kind of oil or slippery product I can apply to these sliders to make them glide better? I really don't want to replace them unless absolutely necessary. Also, where would I apply this potential product?\
My second issue also has to do with the same left side panel. Is there supposed to be about a 2 centimeter gap from the right edge of the left side panel and the 1st key on the keyboard? When I look at online pictures, the left side panel seems to hug the 1st key tightly, but mine doesn't for some reason. Also, the "analogue stick" thing on the left panel kind of droops down a little bit. Is this a common problem and how would I fix it?
My last issues have to do with the top buttons/sliders. I'm trying to get to them and clean them from underneath, so what's the best way to remove the "motherboard" that's blocking access to the buttons from the inside? I'm trying not to remove any of the colored wires, as I'll probably forget where they go. Some of the top sliders are bent (probably from someone jamming random slider caps on, my machine doesn't have any original caps). Should I just take some pliers and gently straiten them out?
Also, where can I find a cheap and good japan to american voltage converter? How much do they typically go for? I plan on going to a hardware store 2morrow and pick up some oil for the sliders/ a goop remover (there is dried up duck tape residue on the top) and possibly a pot cleaner. What are the best products that are cheap/affordable?
Thanks! I know these are a lot of questions, but I'm new to synths so bear with me haha.

Do nothing until you've checked that everything works. Why? If it's not broken, don't fix it. Sounds like you've no electronics experience, so a valuable synth is not the place to be learning from your mistakes.
Here's a transformer for you:

You might be better off taking it to a technician. Get the sliders lubricated, and have the power supply converted so you don't need a transformer. With most Roland gear this is a simple job.

Re: Juno 106 General Help
For faders you can use DeoxIt FaderGrease.

Yes deoxit grease would be best. However, don't clean any of the other sliders. This is a common problem with synths that haven't been used for a while. Just moving them is enough to get the existing lubricant to spread around again.

That is indeed true,as some synths have been left aside for some time.madtheory wrote:Yes deoxit grease would be best. However, don't clean any of the other sliders. The noise dissapears after a while, not always, then you can use a spray.

Re: Juno 106 General Help
So I plugged my Juno 106 in and nothing works....at all. It's a Japanese model and I live in America, but I thought I would try and plug it in real quick and just try it out to see if it works. Is this why it's not working or do I just have a shitty device? I sure hope it's the former...
(PS, all I hear is static noise when I turn it on)

Re: Juno 106 General Help
It does not mean that your Juno 106 is broken.
Does something change when you move different sliders?
If you are in Bank A, does sound 11 sound the same like 36 for example?

Re: Juno 106 General Help
everything just produces static noise. When I click different settings, I can hear a slight change in sound but it just ends up sounding like a "slightly different sounding" static noise

What happens if you go to the Manual mode?
Do you have the same problem?Or can you play the manual sound like a normal sound?

The 106 goes into manual mode when it's turned on so I think he's having the same problem regardless.Explorer wrote:What happens if you go to the Manual mode?
