TR808 clap adjustment

I've searched around but can't quite get a clear understanding:
How do the trimmers TM3 and TM4 in the 808 affect the clap?
My clap is very long / reverby.
Some places seem to say I should adjust TM4, others TM3. I can't find anything clear in the service notes.

Anyone got the definitive answer?
