Insuring Vintage Synths

Who do you have your vintage synths insured with, and have you ever had to make a claim?
If so, did you get the full amount, was it a pain in the a*s?
I need to get renters insurance for my studio, but I don't want to pay out for it, only to find that in the end I wasn't as covered as I was led to believe.
I know this topic has been covered a bit, but I couldn't find any definite answers.
Thanks.

I get my stuff covered through allstate, but its part of my homeowners insurance. I can call them and get specific details for you if you want.

Go with a company that specialises in insuring studios and musical instruments. I had my stuff covered for a while when I was touring more and it covered me for any loss or damage apart from me deliberately damaging things. Was cheaper than adding them to my house and contents insurance as well.

My home owners, Allstate, will cover synths, but only actual replacement value of a something "similar" if it is not available. It is also subject to a deductible.
In order to get actual replacement value, a separate rider policy needed to be purchased. Each piece of gear needed to be appraised and written up. They were not picky who wrote it up, but if you flip a piece of gear you need to get new paper work. There was no deductible with that policy. They said it was a no hassle, paid by the end of the week. Covered everything, spilled drink, dog piss, power surge, theft, ect. I forget the exact amount, but it was something like $100 a year for $5000 worth and still payed out if the gear was damaged/stolen at a gig.
