Moog Bass MG-1 Question

Post by ronedee » Thu Feb 21, 2013 5:37 am

Hi guys...I'm hoping you know the answer to a question about a synth bass. Back in the 70's I used what looked like a portable, 2 to 3 octave synth. As I remember it had very basic controls, and the b&w key color was opposite.

This piece happened to be in a studio that I was recording at, and I used it for one particular song about a WWII airplane crash. The synth made a dynamite "pre-crash" low flying prop sound I've never been able to replicate!

I put the Moog Bass / MG-1 in the title because they were the closest looking. I'm also hoping the one I'm looking for is the cheapo imitation! :o

Any help would be great! Thanks, Ron

The MG-1 didn't come out until the early 80s... You're probably think of the Rheem Key Bass...

LOL! Thanks....I think that's it! I don't remember all the Red! Or the farty robot sound either!

I found one on Youtubby! I musta used something in the studio to bend the sound...because I can't believe what I actually ended up with on tape (at that time) came outta that thing!

I guess I was either a genius engineer (at 19!), lucky, or have a romantic view of the past! Maybe all of the above!
