picked up Juno-106 from repair shop, STILL BROKEN...

A few weeks ago I dropped off my Juno-106 at an authorized service center. I explained in detail what was wrong, emphasizing that a voice chip was out. I had a spare roland voice chip for them to use, and they sounded confident about being able to fix it. I had to pay a $90 dollar drop off fee. Today I went to go pick it up. I had to pay $170 to pick it up, which I was fine with. I tested it out quickly with some headphones and it sounded fine at first, so I packed it up and went home. When I arrived, I set the keyboard up with my headphones, and after I started playing I realized that a chip was still out. The sub oscillator is the only waveform that doesn't have a problem (dead notes). Im very mad. At this point all I can do is call the shop again in the morning.

They DID clean up the static in the output signal though...

Most reputable places (?) will resolve this at no additional cost to you, and hopefully get this done pronto.

I would give them the benefit of the doubt since they probably don't see a Juno 106 often. They should fix it free of charge, if they don't or if they give you any hassles I'd say it's fair to post their name so others can avoid them.

If they fail to fix it after a second time, I'd demand a full refund.

Current problems I am facing:
• every few notes is quieter than the others
• some notes aren't even the right note (some will be same pitch as previous or next note)
• on sub oscillator, some note have a noticeable high frequency sparkle on top
• ^with all of those, the problem notes switch up after pressing a lot of keys

it seems that all the shop did was clean up the audio signal and use my chip as a replacement for one of the chips that didn't need to be fixed

Maybe another voice died in the meantime. Can you confirm it's the same voice still making problems?

All of the original chips will fail sooner or later, so you might as well just replace them all with clones...

We work on Juno-106 synths all the time. If you can't fix it, give us a call. We have wave cards and vcf/vca cards if they are needed. I am wondering, have you had the epoxy coating peeled from all of the voice cards? This should be done, as not doing it will result in eventual failure in all. "dead" cards can often be fixed just by peeling the epoxy off. Good luck!
