DW 6000 Problems.
Well The DW 6000 that I want to buy has an issue. The filters and envelopes work, but it doesn't seem to have all of the waves. When I try and change them the same wave (sounds like a sine wave) plays. The rest of the board works, and there is a sound that's musical that is coming from the synth it just won't change. I'm going to try a patch recovery on it tomorrow, and hopefully that will restore the patches. Has anyone had this happen to a 6000 before? I know the 8000's are kind of delicate, but every 6000 I've owned was solid, is there any obvious reason the synth would act this way?

Re: DW 6000 Problems.
Let's talk a little:
Do you mean every patch sounds the same, or when editing a patch the waves sound the same? On one or both oscillators?
If you edit a patch and change the wave, does the display update the wave number correctly?
Battery age?
If you hold a note or chord, is there any long-term change in pitch, filter or LFO?
Does the joystick work correctly?
If you play up and down the keys, are they scaled correctly?

Re: DW 6000 Problems.
Every patch sounds the same it's a sine or square wave that has portamento applied. The LFO is also applied on a very slow frequency and on every patch the release on the envelope is set to infinite (highest). The waveforms don't change when prompted. OSC 1 initially was out, but when I turned it off then on again it came on, with the same wave as osc 2, and could not be changed either.
Battery is original (guess)
The wave numbers change when prompted, but no change in sound. When I do try and change the waves there are pauses in the tone to indicate I've moved an increment, but the sounds barely change.
It's scaled correctly, but on the higher registers about an octave above middle c the octave of middle c starts over again. The rest of the keyboard does what it's supposed to do from middle c down.
Joystick works.
Thanks.

First thing I'd do is change the battery and reload patches.
The glide effect and infinite sustain is 99.9% indictave if a wiped out memory.

Thanks rhino, I think I will try and reload the patches, couldn't hurt to try. I'll let you know what happens!
