I seem to have blown up my MicroMoog...

Post by WhinyLittleRunt » Sun Dec 15, 2013 4:27 am

Today just ain't my day...

I had left my MicroMoog on for the last month or so, since I was having tuning issues with it that the calibration just wouldn't fix long term, so it had been on and stable; working fine this morning also. Noticed a little while ago the power LED was out and I wasn't getting any audio output... Took it to the bench, checked the power supply; getting 15 +/- at the pins, fuses are good. I can hear popping and crackling if I turn the volume pot, so I know signal is making it to the main board and then getting cut somewhere. I read another thread about something similar that blamed an op amp for the issue but he also had a rebuilt power supply in the mix, so i'm not sure which one was contributing to the power LED, although I can see physically that it is on a connector that travels to the main board.

I might just want to take it somewhere at this point; I know it needs a calibration and probably some new parts, power supply recapped, etc. I'm not sure I even want to troubleshoot it any further, I'm just venting...
I like vintage synths....
