Hohner String Performer
I picked up a Hohner String Performer a couple days ago. The case is dirty, has a few amrks and in general there's some dust and cobwebs on the inside, but overall is in good condition bypassing cosmetics. I wasn't able to test it since it the seller no longer had the power supply (as well as he wasn't the actual owner of the synth, got it from a family member?) but for $80, why not? I finally found an 18.5v power supply to a laptop at the local Goodwill and plugged it in. To my dismay, it's pretty much a mess. I don't even know where to start naming off issues. Some keys are dead with some presets, others a quiet, some keys sustain even though sustain isn't on, some sounds are really quiet like the clavichord and viola settings. When I turn up any of the setting for the treble half, A3 puts out a continuous droning sound when not pressed, but stops when it is pressed down. And the mono synth section as well always has a constant vibrato going when the volume is turned up on it. I know literally nothing about electronics repair, however it's something I want to learn

Re: Hohner String Performer
Yeah, mine needs work as well. I can tell you that the mono section has trimmers to adjust the vibrato speed and depth - they're under the panel, a little ways up from the fine-tune and coarse-tune trimmers (the fine-tune is the one trimmer you can access without removing the panel.)
The service manual with schematics is available online; wish I knew more about reading them.
