JX3P synth repair, please help!!!

Post by thetalkingliberties » Wed Jun 11, 2014 6:45 pm

Ok so I'm having a recent problem with my Roland JX8P. I've come to take its longevity for granted and now I have no backup for using it live (I use a lot of backing tracks so I could get through a show without it, but I digress). Anyways, any input would be appreciated. We have a show in ten days, and I would at least like to find out if it's fixable or if I should start ebaying it up.

For pure comparison I'll link to a before and after recording of whats going on with it. The last time I plugged it in was about a week ago at an outdoor festival. It was raining during loading and unloading (playing under a covered area) and I was sure it didn't get wet. It might have, but that doesn't seem like whats going on with it.

Here's before (control):

And this is what comes out when it's played now. It takes a noticeably longer time to countdown(bootup) this time. I'm switching patches while playing a chromatic scale. The interface preamp and mixer are turned all the way up just to get this close to 0dB (weak output):

Also, it's started to boot normally and works for a few seconds after being left off for a while, then goes back to poo mode. Tried everything. Switching outputs, cables, amps, patches, playing through MIDI in...

Have you checked the voltage outputs of the power supply?
