Hello,
I picked up a Korg Electribe S ES-1 MKII, a Kaossilator KO-1, and a mini KP about two years ago and they've been collecting dust in a box in my one bedroom apartment. But now that we're expanding into a two bedroom, I'm excited to actually start looking into using it. I also just bought a Xiosynth which is currently on a short flight from Michigan.
A question I probably should have asked before buying the Xiosynth, but where can I learn the basics of synthesizers? Literally fundamentals like terminology.
I'm ready to scour the user guide (I mean it's 83 pages), but beyond this, can anyone suggest a youtube channel to watch or anything simple to read?
Thanks very much,
Matt

I just happen to live close to a university that has sound engineering as one of its specialities and came across this in the library:
Sound Synthesis and Sampling by Martin Russ.
It has a pretty good coverage of the basics along with some history and all sorts of other stuff. Might be worth buying if you can find it used. Definitely worth checking out if you have a good library nearby.

Thanks! Just created a 300 page PDF of these articles to breeze through in Kindle.Stab Frenzy wrote:Start at the bottom, work your way up: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/allsynthsecrets.htm
Thanks you! This looks like a good starting point for sure.GuyaGuy wrote:Also good:

[update]
Just started watching the first of the three videos (currently "eating some cheerios"). This is super valuable and very easy to consume!. I really had no idea about something as rudimentary as harmonics, and this guy covers this stuff very well! Thank you!
And Stab, I'm looking forward to reading at least some of those articles. They look great!
Thanks very much guys. The Xiosynth has landed, now to find the box with the 1/4" adapter!
