I have a JV2080 which I've been using for many years, but just lately I've been hammering it a lot as a multi-timbral sound source.
I'm noticing timing/syncing discrepancies that don't seem to be tied to any one particular channel, patch or sound. I use it with a midi-sport 4x4 user interface and older version of cubase VST but I've been using this set up for years, there's no midi-thru box between the interface and the JV, and all my other gear is working and syncing fine (including the Nord Rack 2 which is on the JV's thru port)
I'm not sure but I think it may have gotten worse or become evident after I fitted an expansion board (The world music one, I can't remember the code)
The tin lid on it was when I recorded out a musical scale for multi-sampling the other week, the same sequence over and over on different channels. Sequence was about 80 bpm, when I loaded the recordings into Vegas to line up and edit the samples the timing was all over the place for each channel, despite being the same sequence.
I seem to remember reading ages ago (like 10 years) that the JV could be prone to timing issues, I'm wondering if anyone else with a 2080 has had similar problems?
Thinking if I can't resolve it of maybe upgrading to a later unit, maybe the XV5080 as I like the architecture and sound on the JV, and I'm not the world's biggest software fan/user.

Re: JV2080 - timing/latency problems
My guess is that nothing has changed, from what you're saying it only became apparent to you when you multi-sampled it and put the notes under a microscope.
All outboard MIDI gear has timing slop. Some worse than others. Mostly it's outside the bounds of perception. I remember my ESI4000 was pretty obvious about it when triggering multiple drum loops. Apart from that it was a non-issue.

Re: JV2080 - timing/latency problems
The multi-sampling confirmed what I suspected I was hearing in my music though, I've definitely got some tracks where I can hear the timing fall over, the notes and beats lag. I'd share some of it up but it's protected by an NDA.
I've been sequencing hardware via midi for over 20 years on a range of setups and I've never had this problem before. (ok apart from maybe early days when midi timing on PC really sucked compared to the Atari ST etc)
