Hey!
So i have a microkorg and a roland tr606.. i have a 5 pin midi cable and want to sync the two together. I have tried setting the midi to auto, external, tried all the midi channels. Got the tr606 set to output (the input setting on the sync on the back seems to render the drum machine completely useless?)
I really dont want to have to spend money on anything else (no i dont want to connect to a pc through Flstudio or ableton etc, i just want to sync these two together)
Im basically a novice so any advice would help!
Thanks
ben

TR606 has no MIDI. The things that look like MIDI jacks are for DIN sync, a clock method that existed before MIDI.
You will have to buy something if you want them to sync together.

Or you can dump the 606 and get a MIDI drum machine.

How much do one of these converters cost? (on average anyway)meatballfulton wrote:TR606 has no MIDI. The things that look like MIDI jacks are for DIN sync, a clock method that existed before MIDI.

The MSY2 is $140 at Analog Haven which is an online dealer.
There's also the Future Retro Swynx for $180. This adds the ability to swing the clock as well as doing MIDI to DIN conversion.
