Akai ax60, only 3 of 6 voices playing
So when I play the keys I can only have 3 playing at once. When I hold a fourth it just cancels out the first key I am holding down. In split mode it is capable of playing 1 on the lower level of the split and 3 on the higher level of the split. Any info on what to do will help. Thanks!

Not sure how to help you, but the AX60's split options are:
0-6
2-4
4-2
6-0
Although, you can put the upper or lower parts in UNISON. Back in the 80s, my favorite split was 2-4 with the lower (bass) in unison.

Based on what Z wrote, you have Unison turned on. Turn it off and you'll get all your voices back.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Yes I know the options of the split mode and I know what unison mode is. But when Unison is not on, and when I am not in split mode I can only play 3 notes at once.

Yeah, not sure why playing a 4th voice would rob one of the notes already being played. If there was an issue with the VCF or VCA, then that 4th voice would just be silent while the other 3 notes are playing.
I'm no tech, but kinda sounds like a software (the synth's processor, that is) problem.

Could be that 3 voice failed to tune so it shut them off... If you open the synth you can tell which voice is playing by squeezing the CEM3394 chips as you play notes.

It ended up being a midi problem! THANKS GUYS! Not sure if its a damaged cable or not or something else was occupying the other 3 voices, but I unplugged the cable, turned it off then on, and it works fine!!!

Ah! It must have been a MIDI loop. The MIDI OUT must have been going back into the MIDI IN, so the AX60's keyboard is playing 3 notes and transmitting the MIDI data and the MIDI IN was playing the other 3 notes.
Glad you got it figured out.
