Hi guys and gals! I need a LFO module that has MIDI sync and thru.
I have a KORG MS-20 Mini, a KORG SQ-1, Presonus Audiobox 22VSL(a two channel audio interface with one MIDI OUT), a laptop with Cubase 7.5.
What I want to do is sync the LFO on the MS-20 Mini to the DAW(Tempo and Start/Stop). But since the MS-20 Mini can not be clocked, I think I need an external LFO module that can. And Hz/V will be good.
I can, use the SQ-1 as a LFO, and sync it to the DAW via USB, and CV out to the MS-20 Mini. But it's not ideal, because the rise and fall of the gate on the SQ-1 is too jumpy, even with slide enabled and voltage lowered to 2V.
Something like KOMA RH301 will do, but I don't think it can do Hz/V, does that matters?
And Kenton Pro-SOLO MKII, a MIDI to CV converter, can it output CV as a LFO? Or just CV and gate like the SQ-1?
Thanks!

The ProSolo has a digital LFO built in that can be synched to MIDI clock. You can route it to a CV out or mix it with the pitch CV for vibrato. Kind of expensive to use just as an MIDI synched LFO but it will work.
Hz/V rather than V/oct is not important for an LFO unless using it for vibrato.

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

If you just want it for a synced LFO you can get a multichannel soundcard for around the same price as the Kenton and then write your lfo in software with the pencil tool. The interface doesn't have to be DCO coupled to output an LFO unless you're aiming for sub 1Hz kind of frequencies.

Moog MP-401?
I like using the Arturia MicroBrute for a MIDI syncable LFO.

Thank you all! I guess I just need a simple LFO that can do MIDI sync, and havs wave shapes, 5V is enough, that's all.
And I can output a low freq audio signal(lower than 20Hz maybe) from an audio output on my interface, and use that as CV?

Yes you should be able to if it's a decent quality audio interface.VinnieLee wrote:And I can output a low freq audio signal(lower than 20Hz maybe) from an audio output on my interface, and use that as CV?
