Hello!
I'm planing to gig with my synths.
We'll be doing '80s synthpop and similar, and since I've never done it before I need your advice on how to get best sound with the gear that I have.
Since all synths are analog, we wanted to stay analog live but it is not priority at the beginig.
Waldorf Pulse 2
Tanzbar Lite
Arturia Microbrute
Volca Keys
Volca Bass
Volca Beats
Akai APC mini
(+ el. guitar and vocals)
All synths will be triggerd by Bitwig Studio
4/4 soundcard with MIDI in/out (U-phoria UMC404HD)
1 free USB port free on laptop (after conecting Akai apc mini and soundcard)
Planing to buy MIDI Thru or MIDI interface.Advice?"Midi Solutions"? "Motu"?
Perhaps powered USB splitter. Are those trustworthy for live?
Thing that is bothering me is; Should I mix synths in Bitwig or conect directly to the mixer.
I feel that T.Lite will not do the trick if it is not processed.
On the other hand we were thinking to get a drummer (acoustic drums), though some magic of '80s will disapear (again, it is good compromise if it sounds better)
We don't have any hardware compressors or FX at the moment, though I'm not planing to play with the FX sends.
If you need more info, feel free to ask.
Thank you!

Re: Analog Synthpop live?
Seems like you have a good idea what you're doing. Check to be sure a midi thru can be powered by your U-phoria. My Scarlett 18i8 will not power my midi thru box, which is bullshit.
Mixing in the box will cause a few ms of lag, but is much cheaper than buying outboard FX/Compressor. You could set up 4 sends in your DAW and that would be plenty to mess with.
What's your band name?

Re: Analog Synthpop live?
I will check for MIDI power.
But if I buy powered MIDI Thru or even interface and if I use short MIDI cables, should I expect any trouble?
Same goes for USB splitter, are those safe if powered? I have non-powered 4-way USB splitter and I have nothing but trouble with it.Similar goes for cheap 1MIDI in/1 MIDI out interfaces.
As far as band name goes, we have not talked much about it since we just started this project. Last idea was "Electric super sex" (lyrics from the "Super Sex" from a band "Morphine")
Cheers!
