elektron sps mk1

Post by marc23133 » Sun Jul 17, 2016 10:24 am

I have never really got to grips with midi, give me analog every time...

I have been happy recording my electron directly into sound forge, but I would like to hook it up via a midi2usb lead into Cubase sx. I got two midi2usb leads more than six months ago, and no matter how I configure the electron into sx via my pc, and how many times I try, I can't get the sodding thing to work; it was doing my head in so much that I have given up.

if anyone can help me out, please do...

cheers, marc.

  • You realize midi only transfers note (and related) data, not an audio signal, right? This might be where the problem lies...
  • If you hook up a midi cable from your computer out to the sps in, you can send note information to play the sps from a notes you enter in a midi track in cubase.
  • If you hook up a midi cable out from the sps going into your computer, you can play the controls on the sps, and the note data can be recorded on a computer, which can be sent anywhere you want. This might be useful to use the sps to play a vst instrument, or to record performance and play them back.
  • What note and related data the sps sends and plays can be found in the manual.
  • No audio signal travels through midi cables: if you want to record audio from the sps to your computer, you need an audio interface, unless...
  • ... some modern instruments can function as an interface on their own via usb. If the electron can send audio signals via usb, aöl you need is a USB audio cable connecting the sps to your computer. The details of this connection should be I'm the manual as well. Usually you just connect it, select the device in the appropriate menu(s), and start recording.
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...
