Maschine controller knob deterioration?
I've had my maschine MK 1 controller since the day the first edition was released, and sadly after all these years, I'm having a very strange problem with it. Everything works and responds perfectly, but the knobs themselves seem to be melting. They're sticky to the touch, and I can feel the residue on my fingers after using them. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Or have a solution? I guess new knobs, but I'm hesitant to replace them with originals and have the same problem again. I should mention that my controller is kept and used exclusively indoors, away from direct sunlight etc.
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...

Dont worry ,you are not alone, I have noticed that the same thing happens on Alesis Ion knobs and on some waldorfs.
It even happens on expensive JBL studio monitors and on car plastics.
It is the rubber surface that deteriorates so quickly, I thought that it was a problem related to sunlight.
Wd40 can help you remove the sticky rubber coating.
Modern plastics suck !

I was surprised to see that kind of deterioration on something I bought new! The controller is practically kept in a cave. I'll have to try the wd40 to see if it can get all the sticky stuff off. Initially I was worried the pads might be a problem area, but they're fine. Just melting knobs!

Please have in mind that if you use Wd40 it will take all the rubber coating off, it will not just remove the stickiness.
You better test it on one knob and see the results.
Maybe it would be easier to buy a new set of knobs?
good luck
