hey all!

I just aquired a CZ230s and its broken.. the power light will turn on and you can hear a faint static in the speaker but thats it. no LEDs light up on the board, the screen doesnt turn on..

Ive taken it apart and tried to trace it to make sure power is going through to the board, but I can't really figure out the best way to do that.

Any help or tips would be super appreciated!!!

Thank you!

The service manual/schematics are rather hard to come by, although they most assuredly do exist if it comes to that. But the circuit should have a lot of similarities with the CZ-101 so that's probably enough to go on.

As I don't have a CZ230S, I'm not 100% sure how everything is laid out, but look on the mainboard for the ROM chip. It's probably a 28 pin chip. It might be in a socket with a paper label/sticker on it, if not then it might have a number printed on it that includes "256" somewhere. There's probably a 24 pin RAM chip somewhere close to the ROM chip which may start with a "uPD" part number. Those are just guesses.

There's a notch in both of those chips. I'm calling the side with the notch the "bottom" of the chip. So the narrow side without the notch is the top and the narrow side with the notch is the bottom. Use a multimeter to check that the DC voltage of the bottom-left pin is +5 volts. Measure that on both the RAM and the ROM chip and report the results.
