Thanks! I agree about the harmonies. The tracks weren't meant as much more than examples of what a Juno-6 / 60 can sound like. They were sort of made up as I went. This Juno is my first synth, so obviously I can't compare it to VCO synths. But I have to say I was positively surprised when I got it, especially after all I had read online about the differences between VCOs and DCOs.

I decided to educate myself, and cover Depeche Mode's Any Second Now from the album Speak And Spell (1981).

All parts courtesy of the Moog Little Phatty - including the drums. I did run an external white noise source into the audio input for the downward swoop, but otherwise it's purely Phatty.

Reverb is Lexicon MPX1, EQ and mixing on the A&H Zed R16 firewire mixer/interface, panning and volume automation, and a touch of light compression, in Logic.

Here's a patch I created on a the Fizmo a while ago. Everything comes out of the board itself. No Post-Processing.

Makes excellent use of some of the transwaves, as well as some of the standard waveforms. It sounds very spacey and hypnotic.

I slowly increase the filters (globally for all oscillators) to change the sound over time. A distinct trait of the sound can be heard from one of the transwaves being modulated by a noise LFO.

This sound is actually outdated - as I have since improved on it some more - however, this is the only variation of the patch I have, where any of the transwaves are modulated by a noise LFO, which makes this variation quite interesting.

MINIMOOG MODEL D:

I put a quick demo together of a number of sounds I quickly dialled in on my newly aquired 1976 Minimoog.

This one is fitted with the old 6 pot Oscillator board:

I started to play with using OSC3 as an HF modulator - I was expecting metallic clangs for sure...

I was NOT expecting this!!.... it breaks all the preconceptions for me... well beyond the range of timbres I was
expecting from a Minimoog. Quite simply the most well controlled analog FM bells I've ever managed to get out of any analog synth... let along one of the very first portable analog voltage controlled synths ever made!!

Here's the Mini being subjected to increasing amounts of tube overdrive. In this case I have deliberately chosen a soft triangle wave based sound to show how it can be mangled in a way tubes do best!

Here is a heavy Xmod sound with OSC-3 tuned down -6 semis and the resulting effect brought in and out with the mod wheel for a sort of sync guitar effect (despite the fact that the mini has no sync mode).

As you can hear, modulating the Xmod depth makes for lots of movement.
