VSE Challenge - CS_TBL, Instrument Panel & mcomeg WIN!!
Hello everyone,
Here are the nine entries to the VSE 'Fictional Cop Theme' Challenge. They're all good entries and deserving of your vote! I've kept the entries anonymous, to make things a little bit more interesting.
I'll reveal who did each entry when the poll closed, for folk to discuss what was used etc and we'll limit chatter in this thread to discussion of the entries only. You can of course say who you voted for, if you want!
The poll will be closed and the winner declared on Wednesday 16th September, so you have a month to listen and cast your vote. Each member gets one vote and this can't be changed afterwards, so use it well!
Thanks to everyone who volunteered their hosting services - much gratitude!
GOOD LUCK!!
1 - 'Law and Disorder'
2 - 'Pol4'
3 - 'The Night Shift'
4 - 'I'm Taking You Off The Case'
5 - 'The Rozzers'
6 - 'The Erotic Couch'
7 - 'Will Get U 2'
8 - 'Challenger'
9 - 'Detective'

Excellent work everyone. It was fun listening.
I voted for 'I'm Taking You Off The Case'. I'm surprised it hasn't received more votes!
Great lead soloing. Killer bass. Groovy drums.
Good luck all!
Chas

You guys are great... I've been laughing of the insane amount of cheesiness in these themes... To me, "The Night Shift" was the most cop theme of all... I can actually hear it becoming the new theme to Law & Order....

I have heard hints of everything from Beverly Hills Cop to Revenge of the Nerds here... Very eighties and very fun! To me, "Challenger" felt like I was watching a scene straight out of Police Academy, so that got my vote.

Re: VSE 'Fictional Cop Theme' Challenge - VOTING OPEN!!!
I voted for 'Challenger' - all it needs is the little 'Stephen J Cannell' ident at the end of it. Top marks!
For me, it just pipped 'Detective', which was a crackingly dark theme - I could really imagine two dishevelled coppers staking out a murderer for days.
Special mentions to 'Law and Disorder', as I like the laid-back jaded cop feel to it and the production on 'Night Shift' is excellent!
All good entries though - a pat on the back all around!

'I'm taking you off the case' channels Jan Hammer nicely... and 'Challenger' does have that Stephen J. Cannell vibe.

"Detective" got mine. I can imagine a strung-out detective working on his last lead, and it takes him deep into the urban jungle of crime and filth. Very well made.
But I think all were good, and especially "The Erotic Couch" which I think has that 60's feel. Also "The Night Shift" is a favourite.

I voted for 'The Rozzers'.
It's got a great live feel to it as if it was recorded directly to tape. The build/crescendo bit in the middle is outrageous.
8)
Excellent stuff.
'Challenger' is great too.
I love the bass on 'Will Get U 2'. And 'Pol4' is great fun. . . brutal/aggressive but intriguing.
Those were my favourites, but I think all of them were on the money in one way or another.

My vote went to Law and Disorder. It reminds me of late night TV on a rainy Friday. Some great nostalgia in those entries all round

Haha man these are good! Just throw one on while cooking dinner and you'll be shooting villains in no time
Moog LP + Casio SK1 and MT-75 + tube amp = good tone.

These were even better than I expected - well done. Went for Pol4 in the end.
