Nemesis: minimal track by Ensoniq Fizmo *update*
please....
date of production: September 2010
This is a Korg Electribe ESX filled with the sounds of Ensoniq Fizmo. Percussions like kicks, snare and hi hat were sampled from the EMU command station.
Main sounds are performed on realtime on the Ensoniq Fizmo keyboard.

thank you sir!
I always record several impressions of the same idea. This another track, more chill out, came from the same root that nemesis came from.

balma, i am a huge fan of your work. it doesn't just sound good, it's also what i want to hear! let's get some dl options or something...and what would you think of a collaboration of sorts?
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...

Mmmmmmm... sounds GOOD! The Fiz adds a whole other(worldly) dimension to your sound. I love the textures you're getting from it, and I think you integrate it into your dance tracks beautifully. Great tracks, keep 'em coming.
Nice... nice... very nice...
So many sounds from the same device!

The first track is seriously good. Remind me of Giorgio Gigli, although a bit more colorful. Great atmosphere, and you kept the beats to a minimal, short and sweet. Good work!!

Thanks a lot to all of you for listening my music and providing me with good thoughts about it.
I like a lot the effect of the irregular and sometimes chaotic sounds of the FIzmo with the strict and mechanic quantization of the ESX. There is a tubular bell at the first track that is very good.

I really like these tracks, they are my favourite things I've heard of yours. Nice work.
What is the Nemesis picture a close up of?

Nice tracks Balma, very ORB-ish, but still minimal, i guess it's the Fizmo that gives it that flavour.

Re: Nemesis: minimal track by Ensoniq Fizmo
Many many thanks for the good opinions, I always take all the comments very seriously
The pic is a "finger" from a dragonfly's spawn.
The Fizmo has changed my sound indeed. I read many comments saying that is a synth that is hard to include it on a dance mix,. I've heard several tracks with fizmo, and it's used mostly on intros, or ambient drones.
There's some truth on that statement, since the Fizmo has no drums. However, it can produce many deep bases and great acuatic or belly tones.
Nemesis:
Fizmo and command station sampled together, having fun with the line ins.
There are several basses on the track, one of them is the fizmo sent to the line in of the Waldorf Q.
Another one, is the command station sent to the line in of the fizmo
The decaying and long white noise effect, is the command station, same for the little two notes of the piano and the ethereal "ooouuuuu" that follows to it.
The track was quite simple, but it has many sounds that I have been shaping during a long time inside the Electribe ESX1
In fact, I have on my pc, 12 different versions of Nemesis, that I recorded in 2 days.
shaman verde:
This one is truly a Fizmo trip, the melody was improvisated at the moment and I sequenced a lot of sounds from it on the Electribe.
I just have 9 months with it so still a newbie for the Fizmo, and I have faced frustration many times during the learning curve, but It's becoming an important element on my dance music, I can't believe it!

like work together on a song. you could do some nice pads and stuff with the fizmo, get some samplers grooving and show off some playing ability, and i could handle the drums and bass with my acid synths.balma wrote:What's that?ninja6485 wrote:...and what would you think of a collaboration of sorts?

Oohh this is a great track Balma, nice - did you have the Electribe and Command Station running both at once?
Interested in how you have it all set up and running live.
Oh and if I may just ask one more question, what software did you record it into?

Re: Nemesis: minimal track by Ensoniq Fizmo
thanks Hybrid.
The setup is simple: There are two sequencers running at the same time, the EMU and the ESX1, and there's a layer of fizmo sounds improvisated at the moment.. The EMU does not send note information by MIDI, just MIDI clock to the ESX in order to sync both sequencers. The ESX did the hardjob here, I have invested a lot of energy on improving its sample database wich is filled of lots of sounds from the Fizmo/commad station/waldorf microQ.
I did not used any software editor. I sample myself playing with a Roland SP 808, wich allows a max of three inputs (in this case a S/PDIF from the EMU, a line in from the ESX, and an aux line in form the Fizmo) at the same time.
Same case for 100% of my tracks. They are just long samples.
Nicei to hear an opinion from the other side of the world. Tasmania....
