4 on the floor + a driving bassline

Post by Sir Nose » Sun Nov 21, 2010 3:54 am

Here's a new one I popped out today.

Drums are SCI Drumtraks and Simmons SDS400. Bass is little phatty.

Comments and Criticism welcomed.

My favorite iteration of the bass line is the one that comes in around 7:00. I'm also a fan of the melodic xylophone-like stuff that you throw in around 12:00.

As for suggestions, I'd like to hear more sub-bass. The mid-range fuzz on the bass is great too, but I want to feel that Moog as it breaks my freaking headphones. Maybe you could add in more sub-bass from the Moog and have the kick sit in the slightly higher frequencies.

I also think this track works best at is "busiest" moments. The sparser parts weren't doing it for me, but I did like it when it got some more bang around 8:00. The break that starts around 9:00 is also great.

All in all, nice work and keep it up.

Thanks for listening all the way through, the tips, and comments.

I'll work on getting the bass to move more in the deepend. I like the busiest moments too.

It's all mixed on the fly, I have to get more comfortable with letting it ride when the mix gets full. It's hard to think with that much stimulation. I guess the key is to be skilled enough to not have to think, to just know.
