'04-'06 MEGAMIX (a mix of old material)

here is a collection of tracks written from 2004 to 2006 (most are from 2006, seemed like a bad year at the time, turns out i was pretty productive). i am usually focused on making albums, and couldn't fit these anywhere, nor could i finish them as standalone tracks, none of them seemed substantial enough, even though i liked them a lot. they sat in my creative folder for many years, but then, a few months ago i had the idea of making a sort of dj mix from these ideas. it seemed like a perfect solution: no need to worry about track length, or meaningful titles or derivative ideas or if something is too weird, just chunk it all together into a great big mess. so after playing around with it for a while, here is the result. some tracks overlap considerably, some minimally, some not at all. a strange thing i noticed is that most of these tracks have guitar parts, which is something that rarely cropped up on my albums. quite a few vocal elements as well (even some lyrics, on 'mandark', which is the oldest of the tracks), also a curiosity for me. perhaps the amount of 'human' or 'real world' elements is what prevented me from completing these tracks, as i am always insecure about that stuff, while synths and beats are safe, clean and perfected. the titles are placeholders basically, but make sense in my mind. everything is at 120 bpm (the tempo of the vast majority of my electronic music, because that is the default in my weapon of choice, kinda dumb but yeah), which made it easy to mix, and makes the collection convenient for shuffled playback (with the exception of the last track which is a lengthy droney ambienty thing). i also dug up some images i made in the same period as the music, and attached one to every track as artwork. so there you have it, optimus prime's '04-'06 megamix:

22:20 09. easel (main riff is open guitar harmonics played with a custom tuning)
25:00 10. gajde (e-bowed pitch-shifted guitar put through an lfo-ed filter)

32:44 12. ah (perhaps too long, but whatever, i exported it to default track length in reason)
