Loose pots on a MonoPoly

Post by donaldm » Thu Mar 01, 2007 4:01 pm

Hey all,

When I received my monopoly one of the pots (portamento) had a lot of play to it. It functions fine, but it can wiggle quite a bit up, down, left and right. While i was rehearsing last night the same thing happened to my Osc1 level knob. Does anyone know anything about this? Will the pots need to be replaced are did something go out of adjusment in there? I'm afraid to try to pull the caps off the pot in order to remove the main control panel in fear of rendering the pot unsuable.

Actually does anybody have a trustable tech in NYC where they wont need 3-4 months to do a repair. I have a guy I go to but it would be nice to have some options.

If you take off the knob, there is a nut at the base of the shaft. Just retighten it. Or maybe I misunderstood the post.

Ok I'll have a look, I feel like if i were to try to remove the knob I'm going to pull out the entire piece of metal that goes through the panel connecting the knob to the pot right out of the synth. But I'll loosen up another and see if that causes the same type of wobblyness.

Look around the knob. Usually there is a very small screw that hold the knob to the shaft. If there is nothing, then the knob is only held there by force. One way to pull it out is to cover the knob with a piece of clothe and use a pair vise-grip. The clothe prevent damage to the knob. Don't apply too much force. Go slowly if you must.
