mpc 1000 freezing when recording a sequence

Post by ridethefader » Tue Jun 19, 2007 8:17 pm

my mpc just started to freeze anytime i record a sequence. it seems to freeze right when im almost done recording and its about the loop. the overdub light comes on and then it just locks up. i tried the reset. im running jj os 3.06 i tried reloading that. and i tried taking the jj os off and going with the newest akai os but still the same problem. has anybody encountered this before or have any idea what this is? after searching around i couldnt find any information about this problem. also the mpc forums didnt have any answers either

Could it be a ram issue?

Cool, I'm glad it worked out. I just couldn't think of anything else to try...but since the samples are in RAM on the MPC, it made sense.

after about a day it started freezing up again. so the ram is bad. its actually akai ram. what are my chances of getting akai to replace this ram for free?

spoke too soon. its freezing up again without the ram. tried switching os, reloading the same os, doing the restart. not really sure what else it could be

Well, then maybe it's the 16mb internal ram?
