My Sporadic SY85

Hello - long time lurker, first time poster. I have a Yamaha SY85 that always powers up but most of the time, the LCD screen, while lit, doesn't display any characters. If I power it on and off repeatedly, I can usually get it to fully start up.
Any ideas appreciated!

Decidely, I'm missing a lot of thread lately...

I don't own the SY85 service manual but I can get it. I worked on the SY35 though.

The LCD flickering can depends on:

1) bad connection cable: make sure everything is properly seated
2) LCD Driver going south
3) Bad voltage regulation
4) Bad Data Bus
5) Bad Inverter

That's what I can think of from the top of my head
