Micron as MIDI controller frustration

Post by redchapterjubilee » Wed Aug 08, 2007 7:57 pm

I just recently got a Micron to replace my ailing HS-60 (bad VCF chips like every J106) and also recently picked up a Matrix-1000 and wanted to use the Micron to control it. When I attempt to change a preset on the Micron it also changes the presets on the M-1000. I also had this problem with a MicroKorg triggering my Vintage Keys module. Anyways, is there any way to stop the Micron from sending any MIDI signals other than note on/off and pitch? I didn't really see anything like that in the manual.

If you can't turn that off in the Micron, here's a solution -

Wow! At $150 for that little box I could just buy a used MIDI controller, which I'm kinda leaning towards. Buying a cheap Casio CZ synth or Korg Poly-800 to trigger the M-1000 instead.

True dat! (Other vendors sell it cheaper than the manufacturer.)

I think I bought mine used for maybe $90, and I needed it to filter out everything but MIDI clock & start/stop msgs for a particular setup. Since then it's come in handy for other jobs when hooking up different band member's MIDI systems to each other. You're right, it's not cheap. It *is* a useful hardware utility box to have around, though.

...just one possible solution...

I asked the Micron/Ion user group on Yahoo and figured it out so luckily I don't have to buy anything!

Saw that. Cool, I didn't know it was that easy. (I have a Micron, too.)

Yep there is a setting in setup not to send program changes when your scrolling through c**p, I use mine as a controller for sending other stuff Arps from it, always have to remember to switch that setting every time and a couple others, channel out, and arp to keyboard+midi or something like that too.
