Well I could tell you what it does ... shifts the frequency content of a signal in a linear vs. exponential/harmonic fashion. But common uses for it, well that's another matterhearttimes wrote:i like that bode shifter on the mmv. god knows what it does.

Here's AS' version of it

Very expensive module, will never afford it.
Here's a link to its manual, the Moog one functions in a very similar way so you might get some pointers. It's PDF, so you need a free reader like adobe acrobat reader to see it.
http://www.analoguesystems.co.uk/pdf/RS240.pdf
"A frequency shifter is a highly specialised module capable of shifting the spectrum of a signal by a fixed
amount. This is very different from a pitch-shifter and other effects such as ring modulation or frequency
modulation. (See appendix 5.)
The RS240 allows you to shift the frequency linearly within a number of ranges, the widest of which
shifts the signal by approximately ±5kHz at its maximum setting. You can use manual and voltage controls
(or a combination of the two) to achieve the desired effects. Upwardly shifted and downwardly shifted
signals are available simultaneously, both as independent signals, and as a user-defined mix of the two.
This module also allows you to shift the frequency exponentially, which will produce a number of
conventional - and less conventional - pitch shifting effects."
Here's the natty sequencer I want for mine:

does anyone have any sound samples of things they've gotten using the software synth? I'd really like to hear what you guys have patched up!

I did this cover of Oxygene 5 a while back using just the MMV v1.2.gearaddict wrote:does anyone have any sound samples of things they've gotten using the software synth? I'd really like to hear what you guys have patched up!

I used the MMV2 alot, I started with the MMV1. It made me get a hardware modular!
I too found the mixer confusing, I found it didn't sometimes work or maybe it was just me. The sequencer can be a bit flaky when MMV2 is reloaded.
I used MMV2 for the main sequence (using the Bode Freq Shifter) and the shimmering lead line (using the ring mod). Possibly the rain is also MMV2, can't remember

Sadly the patches were lost during the upgrade to V2.0 and they were saved on my old PC which has long gone kaput.Bitexion wrote:Would you mind sharing the soundbank you made for those sounds?
I'd like to see how they were made, that's all. Learning experience
I'll try to do some more Jarre covers in the future its good practice and easy to do with the MIDI file all ready.

On a slightly off-topic note, I found a site with tons of Jarre midi files.
Might not be the easiest to make the correct sounds for each midi track since you didn't build the file yourself, but saves lots of work for those who don't want to figure out all those complex chords he uses.

Here's all I have easy access to. It's a very simple sequence, but it's very Moogy sounding:gearaddict wrote:does anyone have any sound samples of things they've gotten using the software synth? I'd really like to hear what you guys have patched up!

With Ems Synthi Avs, the Moog Modular V2 is my favorite synth.

Hey .... so first: yes I did RTFM but yet I'm still stumped on this one:
How to send an audio signal through the Efx version of the plugin? I use the "In" which is on the same row as the modulation ins, but I can't seem to get anything coming through.
Also, I thought the VCA needed to be open, so I tried triggering a long note while sending audio through, still no luck.
How does one get this to work? I'm using the Audio Unit "Moog Modular V Efx" in Ableton Live, for what it's worth.
Thanks, dudes! 8)
