I would recommend getting that stuff out of there as soon as possible.

The holes where the switches were can be capped with plastic plugs from an electronics supply place...

Rip it out :o, that`s no fun. This is an exciting mystery and what if something doesn`t function anymore without the extra circuits.

I couldn`t tell you anything based on what I see(since I know nothing) but all I could say is that if I were screwing around the tuning on a Juno it would be to detune it a bit so it doesn`t sound so god awful in unison mode.

Maybe that 'mod' is the only thing keeping it working...

Is it possible that this could be a "development model" or somesuch, like for use within Roland for developing firmware, debugging, etc?

Is there anything weird about the external appearance? Strange serial number?

Things like that eventually make their way out to the second hand market.
