Korg MS-20 patch bay troubleshooting

Post by floydbridges » Tue Oct 23, 2007 10:01 pm

Korg MS-20 question for you folks:

Anyone know how I can tell if my CUTOFF FREQ jacks in the patch bay are working properly?

I patched the KBD CV OUT to both of them and can hear an audible difference when the LP is connected and I move up and down the keyboard. But when the HP is connected, it sounds the exactly the same as when nothing is connected.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this before I take it to the shop would be much appreciated.

1. Set your HP and LP cutoffs to 5.
2. Set your HP and LP Frequency Modulation MGs to 0.
3. Set your HP and LP Frequency Modulation EG2s to 8.
4. Connect a patch cable from the Wheel Out to the HP Cutoff Frequency In.
5. Hold a key.
6. Move the wheel from the middle up.
Do you hear a difference?
7. Move the wheel from the middle down.
Do you hear a difference?
8. Repeat steps 4 through 7, except connect the Wheel Out to the LP Cutoff Frequency In.

You should be able to hear the cutoff clearly in steps 6 and 7 for both the HP and LP.
