Reccomended samples [industrial sound]

Hello VSE, I come to you with stupid and foolishness once again.

I would like to get some recommended sample CD's of distorted drum samples. think the infamous "Mars kit" kind of distorted =)
now rather then spending hours creating my own samples I've wanted to give the mainstream approach a try.

I want a lot of UMPH and a lot of distortion..
kind like this VSE Synth sample heavy and punchy.
dont get my wrong, I love to expirement but there are times I dont mind getting the sound I want premade for me =).
snappy snares, snare like claps and rim hits. and bass druyms are my big wants in a sample CD kit =)

I like the distorted 808-esque sounds off of combichrist but I need something a little more impacting. had a Jomox laying around I prolly wouldnt be posting this.. then again I got plenty of dist pedals laying around that I've wanted to experiment with my MC-808.

and yes I been thinking about getting a JoMoX M Base01 and coupling it with my dist pedals....

another sound group I want are sounds from factories, and mechanics garages. clanks and clinks, hisses, machines whirring kinf of stuff =)

That sample is about the farthest thing from industrial that I have heard.

It sounds like trance with too much gain on the kick drum.

I think they call that 'VNV'.

he's not referring to the synth stuff, just the hard kick. i think it would be very much at home in an industrial track.

Remember that for a lot of people on this forum "Industrial" means things like Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, Neubauten, Cabaret Voltaire etc. Not the sort of thing you'll generally find distorted 4/4 kicks in.

This sort of sound would be EBM rather than industrial.

(And yes I know genres are tiresome, but they are pretty convenient in discussion)

Got your PM. also yes I wasn't referring to the synth leads but the kicks in it =)

I like the SH-2's sounds but I like the kicks it can make too =)

people are pretty repetitive about things
"thats not industrial, thats EBM/futurepop/any other genre" soon enough Ill just call it the anything goes electronic sounding name TECHNO... seems to be the only safe word for the genres anymore =(

I like VNV, but I dont want to become another VNV band.

Im going for a more aggro-tech meets old school industrial sound.
think grendel, suicide commando, Modulate, some of the sophomore albums of FLA, combichrist, I could go on but you should have a fairly good idea by now what I want in my sound =)

I love those drums. punchy in your face and distorted till its nearly a whole new instrument!.

Also I wanna get some cool a*s machine sounds, think something that would make Brad Fiedel would soil himself over when he was composing the terminator soundtracks =)

i highly suggest you get some sort of portable recorder and walk around recording s**t.

h**l, if you live near NC, you can come over to my studio and i will rattle all the tanks and s**t you want to record.

things struck with wood-
propane tanks (multiple sweetspots, many varieties)
oil drums
kegs (multiple sweetspots, multiple varieties)
circular saw blades
metal shelving units
metal spice racks
stair railings
aluminum dog bowls (wont last long)

things to strike with sheet metal punches/hammers
old iron suspension springs
railroad track
old steel wheels
various forms of hollow square stock
railcar hitches
old streetlight caps

things to shake
3 gallon water jugs full of broken terra cotta
2 baking pans riveted together full of nuts and bolts
a huge glass jug full of broken glass insulators submerged in water and recorded with waterphone.

from there it goes to computer time
eq (very good friend to sampling)
layer samples (downshifted flute and a coffee can dropped on the floor? sounds f**k amazing. the sound of yourself breathing in combined with someone shooting a brick? cracked knuckles and the sound of somebody punching a big empty locker? chopped bits of and old medical cardio tape comebined with a sound from a monster movie? all of these make great percussion sounds.

the world is ripe for stealing. go forth.

sorry, just have to point the irony of somebody chiding people for being repetitive when, in fact, they are talking about a VNV rhythm...

tried to mail BG some sample discs, but apparently i'm a serial killer.

just teasing, but getting back on topic, i've tried field recording a few times and never came up with much usable stuff. your absolute best bet is to really learn how to program drum sounds on your synths. that was what ended up working best for me. i can spin up a drum hit on any of my gear in just a minute or two, and tweak to taste from there, push it thru a stompbox and then send it to my ESX, if i need to free up said gear for other stuff.

you've got that MC808 just begging for some homemade samples and your mK and JP8000 have all you need to build some bangin' drums.

actually I'm still a noob with my JP cause I still use it for basslines and pads, but my microkorg I've pulled off AWESOME hats aned snares and bitchen 909-like bass sounds, I shouldnt be such a lazy git and go record stuff. I hate it when my tapes hiss though >.< cause when I use a de hisser it cuts into the sound =/ theres a few industrial facilities where I live [a paper mill and a few steel mills] I might be able to go in there and ask to record some sounds sometime =)

I used to record sounds with my mk mic and laptop all the time but my laptop is in the shop at the moment =/ again...

And yes, I'm a tad jumpy about handing out my RL mailing adress =/ no offense.
