is it ever going to be ported to mac os x? and are there any competing technologies that do roughly the same type of sounds?
i used to have a yamaha fs1r... the formant shaping being the most interesting part of the machine - are there any soft synths that do this type of sound?

you should really get an fs1r again, they are of a rare breed of synthesizers that are truly unique. there is FS1R Editor for OS X, it's freeware, although i think the FSEQ utility has not made it to OS X. i have some legacy OS9 utilities that i've still never tried for it (i run a second OS9-bootable Mac just for old music software).
i wish Vocaloid was ported... in the meantime, KAE Labs' decidedly less-natural sounding VocalWriter is a tool that its virtually untapped by the public ear.
you can always read this right off the Vocaloid site:

Yamaha understands that Macintosh is a very important platform for use in creating music and would like to develop a Mac version in the future. However, the definite release date has not yet been decided upon.

im not sure much about the 2600... as far as the atari XL series goes... use the program called "raster tracker" for windows - i dont think any good tracking software exists (for chiptunes) on OSX - the only reason i use windows is tracking for specific game systemsxpander wrote:seeing your website makes me want to figure out if i can update the old how-to guide for writing music for the Atari 2600 using OS X tools.
KAE Labs has been around for quite a number of years already, i'm actually impressed at their longevity.
