Jupiter 8 button switches

For anyone who has serviced JP8's, when the button switches have dirty contacts, do you have to replace them? I ask because when it came time to repair the button switches in my TB303, the only solution was replacement. They were sealed from the top, and too fragile to open for getting any cleaner into them. In fact, just pulling the silver caps off usually broke them. Anyhow, I was unsure of the fragility of the JP8's front panel button switches.

When I had mine the contact switches needed replacing my a tech. Recall there was soldering involved, didn't look like something I wanted to attempt.

I think they are the same kind of switch that an 808 uses for the step buttons.

The switches can be replaced without replaced the plastic housing or led, but you must be VERY careful. The switches are available from Mouser. There are two types so check for certain that you are getting the right type for the JP-8.

It will either be fig D or C. (808 uses D and I think the 303 uses C)

Chipforbrains also sells them and the plastic housings.

Thanks for the replies. I'd only be comfortable doing the replacement if I could get the control panel off without any risk. Otherwise, best to let someone with 15+ years experience do it. Kind of a bummer the JP8 was sold to me in that condition, but that's just part of analogue ownership.

A friend of mine changed them, the panel was easy to remove, but Im totaly unpractical.
