That pad sounds like at least 2 layers, maybe 3. A string pad layered with the part that swells. The swell part sounds like it could be layered samples, as I can hear changing notes within it. It's probably run through some chorusing to thicken it up too.

Doing some web searching, I found that Dave Grusin used synths including the Minimoog, DX7, Fairlight, and OB-Xa.

I bet that pad is from the Fairlight, maybe layered with something like the OB-Xa.

What synths do you have now?
