Oberheim DX: Two Drum Buttons not triggering properly

Two buttons on my DX drum machine are not triggering/triggering intermittently . The buttons in question are Loud Bass and Low Tom. I can sometimes get them to sound if pressed unusually hard, but they do not work as they should, if at all. I assume they are simply worn out considering both of these buttons provide the most bass from this machine (i.e. over-used/abused). Does anyone know if they need to be replaced or simply cleaned? this is usually due to dirty contacts. not a tough fix.
