Hmmm...that makes it a lot more interesting... why does everywhere say 3 samples? Now I'll be loading plenty of samples this weekend.audible wrote:In fact, you can load 16*3=48 different samples, organised in groups of 16 for each one of the three 'User' voices.JSRockit wrote:Well, you can load 3 samples. Nothing big, but cool to add in a few drum sounds.23 wrote:Yamaha says something about being able to load it with samples, what's the deal with that?
And does it have MIDI out?

The manual is a bit confusing in this respect.JSRockit wrote:Hmmm...that makes it a lot more interesting... why does everywhere say 3 samples? Now I'll be loading plenty of samples this weekend.audible wrote:

Loading banks takes a ridiculously long time. A tip: start loading your samples on Saturday morning and you'll have them loaded by Sunday afternoon. Still you've got a few hours of fun till Monday.

Re: Tenori-On...
What's with Yamaha and sample loading?
The EX5 was known to have fantastically slow loading times, and from what I know this continued (although somewhat improved) with the su700 the Ax000 samplers, the rs7000 and also the Motif series. How does the Motif XS compare?

"Did I really just play 1k for a light brite?"
anyhow, friend of mine said that there was some interesting feature called "bounce"
I tried to look up some info on it, but really didn't fully understand what exactly it does.
What is it?
is it cool?
is it 1k cool?
Or does it just mean the lite bright is animating?
Re: Tenori-On...
Haha, I knew you guys would get a kick out that... I had to try it and get it out of my system... which is what I basically do with everything I buy...then go back to using my Elektrons and Jomox stuff.
@ 23... not really lightbright...but did I just pay $1000 for a rompler with a limited gimmick sequencer and limited sample functionality. You can see bounce mode here:
http://www.global.yamaha.com/tenori-on/ ... index.html
It is a fun device and could be useful in the right hands...but to me, I just can't get into the sounds... if I played live, it could come in handy, but I don't. It's no big deal, another day another synth.

Re: Tenori-On...
the whole synth guinea pig thing has actually helped me. I have big problems with buying synths and then either getting bored or realizing I have no use for it.

It is for sale. This is the thing... I figured it may allow me to make different music than what I normally make... but then I ended up making the same music on this as I would on any other xox box, but only with rompler sounds... most of the other modes are fun, but ultimately not for me. I need to just realize that I like making two bar loops, manipulating samples, and making my own sounds.
