Anyone here using the akai XR-10? I'd like to know how much they're worth, If they're easy to use and most importantly how do they sound.
Cheers.

I have read that these sound quite good, but that operation is quite un-friendly. Less than $50 tho, might be worth your while. there's some in-depth reviews out there somewhere.
Do you even post on vse bro?

I have alwaysused XR-10 samples - great industrial fodder. All the sounds on that machine are f**k over powering.

Re: Akai XR-10 Drum machine
I sold mine for 120 $, but prices are so jacked up here in Scandinavia. You should be able to find one much cheaper. The sounds are great, like tallowwaters said, very industrial and electronic. If only it had individual outputs I would have kept it. Stereo output only is an insult to this otherwise great machine. I had much fun with it though, but be sure you can find a manual. Difficult at first, and I had to learn it by trial and error (mostly error). I have never seen the manual - not even extensive googling yielded any results. Nice pads, but no backlight on the display. I wouldn't say it is more unfriendly than most other drum machines of the same era, but the lack of individual outputs is what turnes me off after some time...
