fostex rd-8 adat to computer ?'s

hello all. I wasnt sure where to post this but here it goes. formerly i was running PTools/le-6.4 on the 10.3.9 and digi 001. Now i am running 10.4.11 and I know the 001 wont run on it. personally I am sick of PT with all the DAErorrs. O I have reverted to my a-dat and I was wondering if I could still use the sound card and send the adat footage via 'light pipe' into the computer and mix the tracks with a different program. All I really wanna do is record derect to the tape and mix and edit on the computer. Is there a recomended program that anybody would know about? what would be best is what I think i'm trying to say- the technology is bleeding the art and fun right out of me- i'm trying not to go so stone age as to take up telegram forums and cylinder and wire recordings(but much respect to our fore-fathers). Please help me billiant dudes
