Gmedia Oddity vst & Ableton

Post by lastnight » Fri Dec 19, 2008 1:42 am

ableton cannot detect the oddity vst

when i go to my vst folder it shows shows up as Oddity_VST2Carbon

no extension, but even if I add a .vst extension it still does not solve any problems. Can someone help me?

on an intel mac 10.4.11(tiger)

Did you install it from an old disk? Are you on an Intel Mac? It might be the PPC version, not the UB. Contact GForce with your serial number for a download of the UB version which will work.

That sounds like it's the problem then, the PPC version of the standalone will run in Rosetta, which is the x86 emulation built into OSX.

Try getting info on Live (cmd-i) and ticking the 'open using rosetta' box. Restart Live and see if Oddity appears then. If it does the problem is that you've got a PPC version. Don't forget to untick the rosetta box when you're done, as it'll run more slowly and you'll probably lose other plugins running in Rosetta.

correct me if i'm wrong, but there is no open with rosetta check box when i cmd i, meaning that my version of ableton is intel based, not ub.

Live only comes as a PPC version (all versions before 5.2) or UB (5.2 and onwards). There are no versions of Live that only work on an Intel Mac and not a PPC.

Are you just pressing command-i in Live? That's the shortcut for inset scene. :) You need to close Live, go to Finder, open the applications folder, open the Live folder, select the Live application and then go File -> Get Info (or press command i).

Just out of interest what machine are you running it on? And what version of Live is it?

Yeah, I press cmd I in finder and under the general tab I see

Kind: Application (Intel)

not, Kind: Application (Universal)

OK then, contact GForce for a UB version of the plugin.

VSTi suffix is not .vst, it's .dll

Try adding that behind the name and see if it detects it.
