This is my first post to the forum and yes I joined for help but will start off by saying "hello" to everyone.
I've been using the VFXSD since first production and aware of all the problems with these keyboards. I been lucky with the onee I have. Anyways, I recently purchased a used one off of Ebay (cheap) and didn't ask any questions. (now I know why nobody else bid on it)
Everything appears to work on the keyboard except the OS won't load. The disk drive loads and saves programs and all the keys sound. Version 2.0 Chips are installed. I get Error 144 and those dreaded recalibration messages. I'm relating this problem to the connector between the boards and I have Ensoniq Service Bullitin 12 which explains the operation. What I don't understand is what do I do if I see the connector is a 20 pin connector. The bullitin states to call Ensoniq for a keyboard replacement if you have a 20 pin connector. Am I screwed? Besides asking questions next time I bid on Ebay is there any advice you can give me on fixing this keyboard so the OS loads?
Thanks,
Clayton

Re: VFXSD (OS Won't Load)
The OS disk is fine as it's will load my other VFX-SD.
Thanks CC......
One other piece of information is that Ensoniq states to quickly turn on and off the equipment I believe seven times. This does nothing but it could be because of a bad battery which I have a replacement to install.

Re: VFXSD (OS Won't Load)
try saving a sound from the OTHER synth, then loading it into the new one. maybe the drive has been knocked out of alignment during shipping.

Or swap the drives between the two.

Re: VFXSD (OS Won't Load)
Thanks for the replies but the hard drive works fine. Knowing the bad history on these machines I fairly certain that it's the connector between the two keyboards. My question remain is what do I do if I see it's a 20 pin connector.
