Man, this thing is fun!
The knobs are a bit wobbly though, thought it was the pots at first, but the holes in the knobs have expanded so much from the years...
Is there somewhere to get new knobs for these things?

Hello, sorry it took me so long to see that you asked me a question! Anyway, the Prodigy I got was the one with all of the later controls so I didn't have to mod it. However it does have some mods that were given to it by a well known synth tech. I've done plenty of synth mods but not on my Prodigy.

A lot of the questions you asked have been answered. On any sort of CV kit there would need to be installation which would involve opening the synth and doing a bit of soldering. Here's some info from Synhouse on installing MIDI and audio-in:

I did buy an adapter from din_sync which works great and was pretty cheap. It gives me a Midi In and 2 outputs for CV and a V and S trigger. It works well but it pretty home brew. I think it cost like $80 but it gives me Midi control over my Prodigy and other 1V/Oct instruments. It was a little strange to deal with this individual as I never got any communique when I ordered the adapter, but it was shipped reasonably fast and has so far served me well (*knock on wood*)..
