MOTU MTP AV help PLEASE - Going insane
Please help! This is driving me INSANE.
Every time I shut down my computer (MacBook Pro with OS 10.5.6) along with my MIDI Timepiece AV (MTP) and reboot the computer and MTP my Audio MIDI Setup constantly creates a new MTP device. I cannot figure this out and MOTU tech support didn't help me find the issue either.
Basically what's happening is that there will be, within Audio MIDI Setup, a device created named "MIDI Timepiece" that it finds on its own, just like it's supposed to. Then I shut everything down and the next time I reboot the original device "MIDI Timepiece" is greyed out and there's a new device named "MIDI Timepiece #2". If I shut down and reboot again then "MIDI Timepiece" and "MIDI Timepiece #2" are greyed out and then there's a "MIDI Timepiece #3" and so on and so on.
Does anyone know what is causing this???

Re: MOTU MTP AV help PLEASE - Going insane
Oh my God. If that's it I will be indebted to you forever. You have no idea how much time I've put in to figuring this out. Swapping millions of cables, USB ports, different Macs, different OS versions, different power conditioners, various forums, tech support with MOTU, talking with guys at Guitar Center
, tech support with Sweetwater, etc., etc., etc.
By the way, does the battery have to be soldered in or is it simple snap in?
Also here is a link I posted on another forum. Look at it and tell me if this is what you are getting as well, please.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOU SUGGESTION! Even if it doesn't solve it, it's the best advice I've gotten so far.

Yep, That's the screen. I went through the same circus as you. Motu wanted me to buy an OS ROM update ($20). Checked it out but it solved problems on windows machines and I'm using a mac.
The battery is a basic spring loaded holder, pops out and clicks in.
I figured that the MTP AV stores its port assignments in memory. The software is looking for an MTP with it's ports active, when it doesn't find it, it assumes there's a new mtp. (All this is a guess on my part). I'm putting it back together today, I'll let you know if it solves the problem by tommorrow....urge

Well, just rewired everything and re-entered it in the AU setup software. Played around for a little, turned the machine off....restarted and voila everything was still there !!!
Let me know how it works out for you.

So Awesome!! So glad to hear it. My MOTU is 3 years old so maybe battery is going bad already.
Gonna do this first thing when I get home tonight.
Was it fairly easy to install the battery? Just unscrew a few screws, open it up and it's right there? Hopefully I won't have to take apart circuitry or anything.

Easy as pie. You'll need a flathead screwdriver as well as a Phillips . The flathead will be used to push back the clip on top of the battery. REALLY Simple

Alright man. I am so excited!!!! I really hope this solves my issue too. I'll be sure and let you know what happens.
Just to be sure though, you're positive of the battery type being "cr 2032"? I plan to leave straight from work to go get it. Lemme know ASAP! and thanks again so much.
