As for the SEM, it's funny because I was thinking about changing my XS for one, but I honestly think they would be too different, so my best option is to just get both

just take standard headphone adapters. that's what i do. yes, they are crappy. but also cheap, so just get a few. i don't think such cables are out there, i wanted some too but resisted. of course, you could solder some yourself (which i intended to do, but still using standard adapters so far).

otherwise, dotcom has an adapter module.

That's exactly what I did when I used a CP-251 with my 1/8" gear. Worked fine and if you try one of the bargain suppliers on the web you can get them for about $1 each. No reason to pay $6 at Radio Shack...

While these things can wear out, I have never had one go bad on me. I have one I bought at Radio Shack back in 1972...that's almost 40 years of service!
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Or you can buy a few good 1/4" cables and cut them in half and solder your mini to the other end(s)... then you have two cables from one. And half the solder work to do.

of you can buy these:

I have. I ordered one from AudioMIDI about 2 weeks before Xmas  They should hopefully start shipping towards the end of this month but the back orders will probably mean it will be a while before I get mine.

If you had ordered one in the first batch as I did, (pre price increase) that figure would have been correct.

Now though unless the exchange rate is much better I'd be surprised if it came in at that amount.

You may be right. whatever it is, it is. But I came to that figure using the current exchange rate & that 'Duty Calculator' thing. The SEM is $899 + $60 for shipping, which currently works out at about £585;
http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/currencies/ ... BP;amt=960

Based on the SEM + shipping costs the import tax works out at £108 (at 17.5%) with £19 import duty (at 3.2%) making a total of £127.
http://www.dutycalculator.com/calculati ... ils/41937/

So £585 for the unit + £127 duty/tax = £712. That's right isn't it?! :? :o :|

i've imported a x0xb0x, FR Revolution, mc-202 and other non musical stuff from outside the EU and never paid more than the current VAT rate and a very small handling charge (£10) so i reckon you'll be ok dogboy :)

really? crikey! so where did you get them from and how did they break down the charges?

the most expensive thing i brought in was the FR revolution which at the time was £423, at parcelforce they charged me £87 so that's about 20%, that was when VAT was at 17.5%

another one of my x0xb0x's came from the US and I paid about the same %, i haven't got the exact figure for that one to hand tho.

it's odd that we'd get charged so differently
