Recording from a Standalone VST instrument

Post by Syn303 » Thu Nov 12, 2009 10:16 pm

Is there anyway to record a standalone VST. I have Virtual String Machine, but it won't work as a VST plugin with my DAW for some reason it's just not showing in the Plugin folder even though the .dll and .cpt2 files are there.

So is there anyway to capture the audio from it as a standalone instrument ?

It's got to have some audio settings in its menu. Match those to the 'recording source' in your DAW.
Usually it's a sound card output setting.

You can also try some free VST hosts from KVR.
When certain VSTs won't show up in my DAW, I'll switch to Chainer and other apps like that.

If all that fails, Ill usually reinstall and watch that .dll DXI, RTAS, VST option real carefully.
