Using audio signal to trigger an arpeggiator?

Post by MrJiveBoJingles » Sun Nov 15, 2009 5:53 am

Here's what's happening:

1. I have a Little Phatty and a Juno 6.
2. I watched this video of a guy using a drum machine's audio output to trigger his Juno 60:
3. I use a sequencer on my computer to control my LP. I am wondering if I can use audio output (the regular "out" jack) from my Little Phatty to trigger the arpeggiator on my Juno 6. Basically I want to use the rhythmic content of the notes played by the LP to trigger notes in an arpeggio on the Juno 6.
4. Will this work? Am I in danger of frying anything?

Sorry for my cluelessness. :?

I guess my problem is I hardly know anything about the levels of different signals that get put out by different synths, and what kind of levels they will accept as triggers or control voltages. Are there any good tutorials on this sort of thing?

Yeah I have done that with my bandmate's 6. We used a floor tom sample for it, it sometimes did some funny little double-trigger things but I thought that worked well for the track we were working on. Play around with different sounds to see what works best, something short and very loud works well. You won't fry anything.

Thanks a lot, I will test it out. :)

I just got the Juno and was quite worried about messing it up.
