I've been trying to find some substantial comparisons on the web between the Korg R3 vs. the Akai Mniak/Micron/Ion and all I really find are buzz words like "this synth is more fat/warm/gritty/dirty/thin etc..." I already know that the vocoder is better on the R3 so I know that's a minus on the Miniak. The type of music I play and produce is electro funk, hip hop/glitch hop, funky jazzy house and broken beat.
Which synth has the better upside programmiing wise (I don't mind menu diving with the Miniak as long as I know the results will be great)?

Re: Korg R3 or Akai Miniak
I forgot to add that i'm only a hardware guy. The reason i'm deciding between the R3 and the Miniak is I can get a really, really good price for either one at the moment. Believe me.... if I had the money, i'd be deciding between the Waldorf Blofeld, TI Polar, Radias, Ion etc.
Anybody with advice? Any kind of input would be greatly appreciated.
